In June the OPERANDUM partners gathered again, this time in beautiful Delphi for the second project meeting. During this meeting the general progress of the project was discussed, as well as the next steps we need to complete in this second year.
The objective of OPERANDUM, which includes 26 partners from around the world, is the development of a series of innovative Nature Based Solutions, to mitigate the impact of hydro-meteo risks related to climate change.
Updates and presentations
On the first day we received a warm welcome of the vice governor, managing director and mayor of Delphi. After the introduction of the 3-day meeting by OPERANDUM coordinator Silvana Di Sabatino of UNIBO, the OALs (Open-Air Laboratories) presented the status of the project and their progress thusfar.
In the afternoon the interactive focus on the foundation and evidence-building of the work packages was discussed, as well as the consolidation, outreach and impact. These sessions were held in smaller groups which enabled the partners to exchange valuable information on these particular subjects and stimulate more interaction.
On the second day of the annual meeting the focus was on the special technical presentations from our partners, who explained about the special online platform build for OPERANDUM and other ICT services, user needs, models, methodology and more.
In the afternoon the special technical presentations continued, where partners presented items about urban moisture and wind speed-up and NBS testing facility, as well as the OAL, Dissemination and Communication and stakeholder strategies.
Open discussions
The last day was reserved for open discussion topic, where partners could discuss specific issues they encountered in their research or ask other partners for advice on how to proceed. These discussions were centered around exploitation strategies and NBS strategies. The meeting concluded with a notification about the internal communication and exchange of information, as well as the risk management within the project.
We would like to thank all partners for their efforts and input during the meetings and discussions, and also a special thank you to our local partner in Greece, the Region of Central Greece and Innovative Technologies Centre S.A. (ITC), for organizing the event.
