Oyster reefs could protect Catterline from future landslips
Professor Rohinton Emmanuel and Alejandro Ollauri from the Glasgow Caledonian University outlined the four-year project under H2020 OPERANDUM to a packed meeting of residents in Catterline. One of the NBS mentioned for the decrease in coastal erosion and landslides might be to create mussel and oyster reefs, as these will absorb energy from the waves, meaning they will not batter the shoreline as hard.
